Permalinktowards me instead of the blind “STFU I’m hungover!” tap the alarm volume
has gone down a bit. I guess that is by design then. Interesting.

1. Make sure DND is not on (Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb). But
since you’re getting alerts for texts this is unlikely. Why on earth
they moved DND under "Focus" is unknown!
2. Make sure that you have not silenced unknown callers.
3. Make sure that you have assigned a ringtone (Settings > Sounds &
Haptics > Ringtone)
4. Make sure that Ringer and Alerts is not off or set too low.

This is normal, and is a setting. I did a search for "will an iPhone ring ifIf I’m doing something on my phone and a call comes in it won’t ring. The

This is part of the Attention Aware Feature of the iPhone. When the iPhone has
your attention while you are looking at the screen (typing, reading websites
or working with an app), then it automatically reduces the sound because it
knows you are looking right at it so no need to issue loud notifications.
You can turn this feature off if you want by opening Settings ➔ Accessibility
➔ Face ID & Attention ➔ Attention Aware Feature set this to OFF."
